1. Overview
HyperWords (“we”, “our”, “the extension”) is a Chrome extension that provides AI-powered writing assistance on websites. This policy explains what data we handle and how.
2. Data we process
2.1 Text you select
When you explicitly trigger an AI action (via hotkey, floating hint, or side tab), the text you have selected is sent to our backend AI service (NexAI, operated by us) to generate the requested suggestion.
- What:Only the text you actively select plus the action type (e.g. “rewrite”, “grammar”).
- Where:
https://nexai.newdev.net(our own server). - Retention: Not stored on our servers. Processed in real time and discarded after the response is returned.
- Training: Your text is NOT used to train AI models.
2.2 Local preferences
Your extension settings are stored on your device via chrome.storage.local and never leave your browser:
- Enabled / disabled toggle
- Custom hotkeys
- Theme preference (light / dark / auto)
- Last used action
- Recent custom prompts (max 5 entries)
2.3 Daily usage counter
To enforce the free-tier daily limit (25 actions / day), we store a counter as a cookie on nexai.newdev.net/__hw_quota__. This cookie contains only:
- The current date (YYYY-MM-DD)
- The number of actions consumed today
It does not identify you and is not used for tracking.
2.4 Subscription data (paid users only)
If you upgrade to Pro or Max, subscription processing is handled entirely by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com) and Stripe. We receive only:
- Your email address (to unlock paid features)
- Subscription status (paid / not paid)
We do NOT see, store, or process credit card data. Payment is processed directly by Stripe.

4. What we do NOT do
- We do NOT collect your browsing history.
- We do NOT track which websites you visit.
- We do NOT read page content unless you explicitly select text and trigger an action.
- We do NOT sell user data to anyone.
- We do NOT use your data for advertising.
- We do NOT share data with analytics services.
5. Your rights
You can:
- Stop using the extension at any time by disabling it in Chrome.
- Reset your local preferences by uninstalling and reinstalling.
- Log out of your paid account to clear the ExtensionPay session.
- Contact us to delete any subscription data.
